FAQs About Our Services

  • Anyone who has struggled with sleep knows that sleep is a psychological process just as much as it is biological. Making adjustments to your sleep-related behaviors and schedule can make a huge difference in your life. We also need to tune into the thoughts and feelings that we have about our sleep to understand how you get stuck into ineffective patterns of behaviors so that you can help yourself get unstuck.

  • I specialize in two areas: Women's Mental Health and Sleep Disorders. The Sleep Disorders I can help with are: insomnia, circadian rhythm disorders, adjusting to PAP therapy, hypersonic and narcolepsy, nightmares, and Pediatric Sleep Problems. For Women's Mental Health, I can assist with premenstrual insomnia, postpartum anxiety, general anxiety, and depression.

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) is a structured, evidence-based approach designed to address the underlying thoughts, behaviors, and emotions that contribute to insomnia. Unlike medications, CBT-I offers a long-term solution by focusing on both behavioral interventions—like sleep restriction and stimulus control—and cognitive restructuring to challenge negative beliefs about sleep.

Benefits include lasting improvements in sleep quality, no risk of side effects, and an empowering approach that teaches individuals to manage their sleep challenges independently. CBT-I is suitable for adults with chronic insomnia and those whose sleep issues are linked to stress or anxiety. Sessions typically involve assessment, goal setting, skill development, and progress monitoring. Click Here to learn more.

  • We operate on a private pay model, so we do not bill insurance directly. However, we can provide you with a superbill—a detailed receipt of services—that you can submit to your insurance if you have out-of-network benefits. If you're unsure about your coverage, we encourage you to contact your insurance provider. Our office manager is available to walk you through how to speak with your insurance company and understand your benefits!

  • We specialize in cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I). CBT-I is an evidence-based treatment used to treat insomnia without the use of medications. This means that decades of research have proven CBT-I’s effectiveness. This treatment is skills-based, which means that it gives you the tools you need to learn how to change your behaviors and ways of thinking to set the stage for better sleep.

  • Everyone is different, but our goal is for you to get to a place where you do not need therapy. For straightforward insomnia, generally we can expect 6-8 sessions on average.

  • Each session is 50 minutes long. This is the standard “therapy hour.

  • Our sessions are generally scheduled for weekdays between 9am-6pm. Sometimes we will schedule appointments into the evenings, but this is on a case-by-case basis.

  • Not at all. We will work together to come up with a plan for addressing your own unique sleep challenges. We will determine what your goals are around medication and work with your prescribing doctor to meet those goals.

  • Life happens and sometimes things come up. We get it. Rescheduling is no problem if we receive at least 24 hours notice. However, we also want to respect the time of anyone who is waiting for an appointment. Therefore, we will charge the full session fee for late cancellations (within 24 hours) or no-shows.
